Matthew  5

Below is an outline of some of what Jesus declared on the mountain side in Matthew Chapter 5.  Here Jesus is contrasting the Law of Moses with the Father's highest calling of those Mosaical Laws.

No Jesus was  Not

substituting and implementing New Covenant Laws.

During this  " discourse "  on the Mount, (because it most certainly was not a New Covenant Sermon ) Jesus never declares that He is implementing New Upcoming Covenant Law.

If Jesus was truly implementing New Covenant Law in place of Old Covenant Law (which He wasn't), why does He "avoid"  8 out of the 10 Commandments in the Law of Moses that He's addressing ?

That makes absolutely no sense at all.

As well, Jesus mentions 2 Laws that were not even originated by God to the Israelites under the Old Law of Moses. (Certificates and Hate) Jesus (the logical Man that He is) is not implementing New Covenant Law in place of the Law of Moses like Traditionalists want you to believe.

Look at the outline below and surely you will see with its arbitrary substitution, and its unsystematic way, along with its awkward, and incomplete coverage, such a theory only portrays a God of confusion.

1Corinthians 14:33  For God is not the author of confusion.

FATHER's LAWS

Highest Calling

of the FATHER's LAWS

  1.  Have no other Gods.   1Why not mention NEW Law here ?
  2.  Do not commit Idolatry.   2Why not mention NEW Law here ?
  3.  Do not use God's name in vain.   3Why not mention NEW Law here ?
  4.  Keep the Sabbath.   4And   ESPECIALLY   why not here ? ? ?
  5.  Honor your Father and Mother.   5Why not mention NEW Law here ?
  6.  Do not Murder.   6.  Matthew 5:21  Do not be Angry.
  7.  Do not commit Adultery.   7.  Matthew 5:27  Do not Desire.
Certificate law not originated by God.        Matthew 5:31  Do not Certificate.
Numbers 30:2  Do not break an oath.        Matthew 5:33  Do not make an Oath.
Exodus 21:23  An eye for an eye.        Matthew 5:38  Do not Retaliate.
Hate your enemy law not commanded.        Matthew 5:43  Do not Hate.
  8.  Do not Steal.   8Why not mention NEW Law here ?
  9.  Do not Lie about your neighbor.   9Why not mention NEW Law here ?
10.  Do not Covet your neighbors things. 10Why not mention NEW Law here ?

Because Jesus was  not  substituting

Old Covenant Law with New Covenant Law.

That's why  !

As an Old Covenant  "Prophet"  Jesus was speaking forth Law within the Covenant that He Himself was under.  It's plainly clear that with these commands below, Jesus is simply illuminating the highest calling root core of the Father's Old Covenant Laws.

6th Command  Do not Murder  -  Highest calling  Matthew 5:21  Do not be Angry

(Anger is the root CORE of Murder)

7th Command  Do not commit Adultery  -  Highest calling  Matthew 5:27  Do not Desire

(Desire is the root CORE of Adultery)

Numbers 30:2  Do not Break an Oath  -  Highest calling  Matthew 5:33  Do not Make an Oath

(Making is the root CORE of Breaking)

Jesus was trying to shepherd the "Lost sheep of Israel" back to the true Law of Moses.  Absolutely He was not replacing the Father's Old Covenant with New Covenant teachings.  That's why he specifically tells those Jews right then and there on the side of the Mount;

Matthew 5:20  Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the Teachers of the Law, (who were defrauding them with false teachings of men) you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

And in order to return to Moses, these Jews had to respond to Christ and His Old Covenant Messianic Kingdom (the very one that He was currently preaching in).

Matthew 4:23  Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom (the Old Covenant Messianic kingdom that He was in), and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

This is not the "good news" (Gospel) of Christ's New Covenant Kingdom (the church).  See this link - Gospels.  The church was 3 years away.  Absolutely this is Christ's Messianic Kingdom for the "Lost sheep of Israel" of whom Jesus was born King of the Jews and of whom those He was only sent to.  See this link - Kingdoms.

Jesus was the Prophesied Messiah of Israel.  The King of the Jews.  And He was fulfilling His Father's mission of saving the Remnant of Israel just like it says in Isaiah 10:20 and confirmed by Paul in

Romans 9:27-28

Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:

"Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.  For the Lord will carry out His sentence on earth with speed and finality."

These were people who had abandoned God's Law and Jesus was trying to bring them back to Moses before He would  "nail"  that Old Covenant to the Cross.  Jesus had NO Authority to institute New Upcoming Covenant Law, He was an Old Covenant Prophet.  Jesus declares this in a most humorous and yet a most tragic piece of sarcasm;

Luke 13:33  "In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day, for surely no Prophet can die outside of Jerusalem !"

Prophets enforce existing Covenant Law, they never, ever, ever give New Upcoming Covenant Law.  Jesus was not a New Covenant Evangelist.  Not until after Jesus offered His perfect sacrificial Body to His Father in Heaven, did He obtain all authority in heaven and on earth so as to be able to return to earth and give His New Covenant to His Apostles during the 40 days He was with them and then later to give it directly to the Apostle Paul from heaven by revelation.
